Exam registration

Are you planning to get a license during your sailing trip? Then complete the exam registration with the DSV in three easy steps. First, select your certification:

  1. Register for the exam online

Please complete the online registration right away; for now, you'll only be asked to provide your personal information.Registration must be completed no later than one week before the exam. After the deadline, the form will no longer be available.

You'll find the link to the DSV registration form in your confirmation email.

On the form, your exam is scheduled for Thursday or Friday of your sailing week in Drage. Don't worry—that's correct, because we'll arrange the actual date directly with the examiner, depending on the weather.

How to fill out the SBF application

    First, enter your personal information.

Select the Geltungsbereich (sea area) as follows:

    Under Teilprüfungen (exam parts), select:

For the Ausbildungsstätte (school), please specify:

It's up to you whether you'd like to receive a separate invitation by email. In any case, we as a school will also coordinate this with the DSV.

We do not recommend getting a ”vorläufigen Sportbootführerschein” (provisional pleasure craft license); it costs more and is hardly any faster to obtain than the plastic card.

  2. Obtain the necessary documents

To register, you'll need the following documents:

    Medical certificate

Have a medical doctor certify your fitness, and bring a printed copy of this exact form with you. The certification must cover your vision, hearing, and general health.

Alternatively, you can book a video consultation with Nautic-Fit; to do so, you’ll need to have your vision and hearing tested by an optometrist and an audiologist beforehand.

    Passport photo

Get a recent passport photo (35 × 45 mm, without a hat or other head covering). It must be a printed photo; write your name on the back.

Driver's license or certificate of good conduct

If you have a driver's license, send a copy to the DSV and bring the original with you to the exam. If you don't have a driver's license, apply for a certificate of good conduct (type N); allow one to two weeks for this.

  3. Sign the application and (snail-) mail everything to the DSV

After registering online, you will receive an email from the DSV. Print out the attached application form, sign it, and mail it along with all required documents to the DSV Examination Committee by the deadline.

Important: The documents must be received by the DSV Examination Committee no later than einer Woche before the exam.

The password for the application PDF is your ZIP code.
